I had a small plant once, placed by my window
It had veins on its leaves, some deep some shallow.
Purple were its flowers, with soothing green leaves
It was gift by someone, but it was more than one could perceive
For it was my peace, near when I used to be
I had a time of day fixed, to come and sit , folding my knees
Only after months of taking care,it used to bloom one day
As my favorite plant for a month or two, it used to stay
I used to take its pictures, to remind me of beauty on days when it couldn't be there with me
For days it was gone, the flower I mean.
I had learnt how to be what you call patient,
I learnt to be graceful, and bright, and beautiful on days when I couldn't bloom, I was nascent.
I learnt to say I'm still pretty on days I only had my green leaves
Its not your job to please others, as one believes
Because the beauty was always inside me, even on days I didn't look my best
Even on days I didn't feel my best
I had this hope, this wait
The patience to one day glow, when I'm ready
To smile and walk steady
To dance and twirl around
To break all insecurities I was bound
To be light as feather, to laugh every weather
To show my vulnerability
To only those who did the duty
Of having the patience with me
As I am not the best always, you see.
